Southhampton / general information

Established in 1640 by English colonists on the South Fork of Long Island, New York, the beautiful community of Southampton is an extremely popular resort attracting thousands of visitors and seasonal residents yearly.

A perfect blend of sprawling pristine beaches, majestic private estates, exclusive shops, and exquisite dining, make for Southampton to be an elite Hampton enclave. Cozy historic bed and breakfasts, upscale hotels and several motels and inns cater for the influx of tourists. Stroll along the village’s shady streets and explore the charming stores, village center, and up market brand name department stores along Job Lane’s shopping district, providing plenty of chic and trendy shopping opportunity.

Southampton pays homage to its rich history and heritage with various historical landmarks such as the Southampton Historical Museum and the 1648 Halsey Homestead. The village feature more than 20 art galleries and the art admirer will enjoy exploring Parrish Art Museum, featuring 19th and 20th century American art. Enjoy events such as polo matches and antique shows, or take part in the various running events and concerts held at the stunning Agawam Park. There are also great play areas for children, and a Veterans Memorial site to explore.

The sparkling Atlantic waters and peaceful ambiance lure visitors to enjoy the miles of unspoiled beaches. There are more than eleven secluded beaches with rolling dunes, salty ocean breezes, and powder white sand for having great family fun, or for just enjoying quiet peaceful moments watching the sun set. Nature lovers can explore the various nature trails, water sport lovers can enjoy a variety of water activities, and the keen angler can spend time fishing in the splendid ponds and lakes whilst relishing the scenic surroundings.
